I-CARE • Individualized Community Adult Reading Education

Reading and writing are essential skills that make a difference in everyday lives. Since 1978, the I-CARE Adult Literacy Program at ��ϼ���� has been dedicated to helping English-speaking adults improve these skills. Our learners come from diverse backgrounds and age groups.

��ϼ���� was the first community college in British Columbia to train volunteer tutors for adult literacy. Our dedicated volunteers meet with learners once a week to provide one-on-one support. Over the years, I-CARE has helped more than 800 adults enhance their basic reading and writing skills.

The I-CARE Adult Literacy Program offers cost-free, individualized tutoring to help adults improve their functional reading and writing skills.

According to , nearly half of the adult population in B.C. struggles with everyday tasks due to inadequate reading and writing skills. This statistic, which measures adults’ proficiency in literacy, numeracy, and the ability to solve problems in technology-rich environments, highlights the importance of our program.
